The Way of Salvation

All Bible believing Christian Churches hold the Scriptures, the Word of God, the Bible as divinely given by God.  The Scriptures begin by telling us that God created the Heavens and the Earth: Genesis 1:1,  everything was created good.   Our early ancestors had the choice to listen to God’s good advice or go their own way.  Sadly, the first humans chose to ignore the good advice that God had given.  The result was chaos and evil behaviour: Genesis 6:5, “every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time”.   Hence the flood came bringing a massive loss of life.  Only the few that listened to God were saved: Genesis 6: 9-13.  The pages of history show us that the fallen nature of the human race has resulted in continuous catastrophe and suffering – the only remedy has been given by the grace and kindness of God,  who has revealed the way of salvation.  God is mighty and powerful, far greater than we can comprehend or understand.  However, God did something incredible and remarkable – He took flesh, that is a body like you and I have,  and dwelt among us: John 1:14.

This is the person we know as Jesus Christ.  He came specifically to planet earth to save us from the results of our fallen and sinful nature:  1 Timothy 1:15.  The Bible makes clear that we must be born again in God’s spirit John 3:7.

We do this in prayer, firstly,  by acknowledging the consequences of the fallen sinful nature in the world and in our own lives.  The word repentance means being willing to turn away from the world’s way and living God’s way.  The second step is believing who Jesus Christ is and receiving His Spirit.  We do this in prayer by asking Jesus to come and dwell within us by His Spirit.  The new spirit that Jesus gives us overcomes the fallen nature spirit.  We then live in the world God created in the way He intended for us.  All His ways are good and we learn these from His Word, the Bible.

Now, being part of God’s family:  John 1:12, we are able to look forward to a much better life on planet earth and be assured of our eternal destiny in Heaven: John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that He gave his one and only son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”.

It is important to note that Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life”.  The Scriptures make clear that there is no other way into God’s kingdom.  Religion, philosophies, trying to be good etc will not save us.  Only the path of salvation as revealed by God in the Scriptures will save us.

All Bible believing Churches are in unity.  They do not add or take away from Scripture, but only proclaim the revealed truth as divinely given by God in His Word.
